Relations between humans and spirits of the earth have generally been contentious as humans carve the land to meet thier own needs. This panel explores those tensions between harmony, conflict, and resolution in the popular Japanese animated films by Studio Ghibli. These include: Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, Pom Poko, Ponyo, and Spirited Away. "Rated" PG for some scary imagery of spirits turned demon, and humans turned into animals.
